Childhood Memories Afternoon Tea @ Pavillion Lounge, Sheraton Imperial KL

30th September 2013

Akiko came back after going to Japan for a month and we've decided to meet up for a hi-tea~~ We didn't go for the tea right when she came back, but postponed it because I had a one week holiday at Jogja, Indonesia (will blog about it soon I hope). Akiko was the one who told me about the tea at Sheraton Imperial and I was really interested mainly because it's themed "Childhood Memories" which I think closely relates to both of us. Apparently it's called "Childhood Memories Afternoon Tea" because the buffet of pastries are crafted based on childhood games; for example Teng Teng (brownies and marshmallow bars, Konda Kundi (chocolate cake pops), Galah Panjang (grissini with chocolate dip), Plastersin (jello), Batu Seremban (ox-eye cookies) and Guli Petak (quiche Lorraine). To be honest I just couldn't relate any of the games to the foods hahaha, I guess I had a different childhood then.

I went searching on details for the tea and found out that this themed hi-tea ends at the end of September so we quickly made a reservation right after I'm back from my holiday. It was really reasonable priced too (at MYR 40.00++ for the dessert spread and a pot of TWG tea), just a must go hi-tea deal~

Akiko came to pick me up around 12pm and we headed to Sheraton Imperial using the GPS I borrowed from my mum. Of course with the GPS we're bound to get lost a bit lol. The exterior of the hotel looks grand, the old-ish classic kind of grand. We proceeded to the Pavillion Lounge located at the mezzanine floor of the hotel. The hi-tea is free seating so we could pick any seats we like. The dessert selection was kinda limited, but they tasted unexpectedly good, so I felt really satisfied right after tasting them.

Took some pictures before we started to take the foods (the girl thing).
The table of desserts:

Some Bruschetta (which was really appetizing after having all the sweets); Chocolate cakepops; Pistachio Mousse with Apple..

I was very attracted to the scones, but what totally amazed me was the Quiche Lorraine. Seriously blown off after trying a bite of the quiche. I think we took more than 5 pieces for each of us lol, to the point of feeling 'jelak'.

Strawberries and some chocolate selection.

Passion Mango Mini Cornetto. Akiko and I were guessing what is this the whole time because it tasted like mango and peach. So yup~ got the answer! This cornetto is really interesting because it has this very strong espresso towards the bottom of the cone.

Chocolate cakepops~ Pistachio mousse was kinda special too, tasted like real blended pistachios.

No need to explain this Quiche Lorraine. Heavenly good~

I do love the scones here, love it with cream and some jam. But couldn't have too much of those though, it fills me up easily.

Our scones~~ Akiko's was the one topped with honey; I prefer mine with just cream and jam.

Wasn't really keen on this macarons at first but it was unexpectedly good~ They had a very strong lavender flavour and I really loved it!

One of the reasons for choosing this place for tea is the selection of TWG teas. We get to pick a pot each and it's included in the hi-tea charges, worth it! Akiko suggested me to take Grand Wedding and Sakura! Sakura! because they are both famous apparently (in the grand selection list); I haven't tried any TWG teas before so I don't mind with anything~

Grand Wedding - black tea blended with sunflowers and "breath-taking exotic fruits" (that's what the websites were saying, don't ask me what exotic fruits in the tea, but it has a strong peach flavour).

Sakura! Sakura! - cherry blossoms and green tea with a presence of rose.

Both of us in the tea pot reflection~

Left: Grand Wedding; Right: Sakura! Sakura!
Love the design of the teacups, tea fragrance spreads easier with the wide mouth cup.

Our afternoon Hi-Tea~~ (one of the rounds lol). My favourite Quiche Lorraine and Ox-eye Cookie. The grissini were hard to me so I don't fancy them as much.

We took our own sweet time chatting and relaxing around, while trying our best to clear all the foods. Would be great if we could have another pot of tea though >< or second serving etc. Love spending time alone with Akiko, I could forget all the real life stress and just enjoy every second passing.

I do wish to try out the TWG café in Pavilion Shopping Mall though, really have to save up and take a day off for a luxurious tea.

Love this camwhore shot~

Thanks Akiko for the photo~ Outfit of the day: Massimo Dutti full lace dress with fur collar + knit lace socks + beige ribbon heels.

The hotel has really nice interior but rather poor lightings, which made it hard for us to look nice in most pictures. Some look nice though! Guess we managed to capture some light ^^.

Obligatory lift and mirror pair shot.

We wanted to avoid the after-work jam so we went Pavilion for some window shopping. Akiko brought me to the nearby Parkamaya since I've never been there before. Parkamaya was a little disappointing, but I do love walking around H&M, and some other fashion stores around the area.

The huge origami in front of Tokyo Street, Pavilion.

Right before going back we suddenly felt like eating ramen lol, probably it's just me who was feeling hungry coz I actually finished the whole bowl without feeling bloated (some miracle happened here haha).

I have to say I just LOVE Ippudo Ramen!!!! Love the hot soup, noodles and the egg is cooked to perfection. Akiko however prefer Goku Raku Ramen as she prefers the soup to be more lukewarm.

Really hope to visit Ippudo again sometime soon!!!!

Akiko's Shiromaru Ramen~

My Akamaru Ramen. Love my choice of ramen, it has stronger garlic oil flavour compared to Shiromaru Ramen. I wish I could just add in some Pork Cheeks from Santouka though...Pork cheeks + ramen is the best!!

Oh and because it's quite late at night we can't afford to take the appetizers ><... I really want to try out the fried corn next time.

That's all for now I guess, Will do a more detailed review on Ippudo Ramen the next time I visit.

Have you tried the Quiche Lorraine at Delicious? How does it compare to this one?

@sim> yup this one is better than Delicious, probably coz it's smaller(bite size) and compliments well with the other desserts ^^
