I decided to join this event this year, to see where I stand. Practised for a month without any guidance and constantly feel lost without knowing how and what I should do to play up to the standards, finally the day had come.
I woke up tidying my appearance and made a quite practise on the piano before the three of us (mum, sis and I) went out for our breakfast. We made it to Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre before my competition class started. Without much delay, the judge came in to the competition room (ISIS2) and gave a short welcome to us. He gave us some advice to feel less nervous and thus the competition begins.
Although I was the second contestant in my class, I felt as if every seconds was as long as hours and the cold air kept running through my spines. Finally it was my turn. I bowed before sitting in front of the piano trying to calm down myself. I did some mistakes during my repetoire but it's over so fast before I even notice.
Due to the noises coming from both sides of the wall (as the sound proof system was bad), the judge's mood was affected as he needed to concentrate more to listen to the playings of each participant. Anyhow, there were many talented pianists and played as though the fingers were made for the piano. Constantly during the playing me and sis signaled some mistakes by other pianist, but we were not as rude as some other participants who kept on whispering about how bad the others was.
The competition ended with some comments given by the judge. He had suggested me not to wear boots when playing the piano, but I did show to him that my shoes were flat and no heels, and the base is soft enough. He was fine by the explanation (sweat). I did know that my playing wasn't as good as the others, but I do think that it was not as bad, I should be standing in the middle, average level. I knew I should not take too seriously about this as this was my first time performing piano in front of the crowd, but I just can't help to feel useless as sis kept on saying my playing sucks and the only few person who were better than me was those who can't even play without the book in front of them.
However, with just the comment slips(wrote about some detail comments on how I should improve for each and every piece) I do gain back my spirit and had fun that day. It made me think back, although the pianist who talked really bad about others did won and really deserve her winning, her character is really a problem. Having a great skills doesn' give her a higher position that she could keep degrading the others, I really think she should at least think that all people who went and participate did try their best during playing.
After the competition, by just holding the certificate and the badge given had made me really happy. Although I did not win, but I am more clear of the standards and how I should improve on my playings. Listen to great pianists really helps a lot in learning ^_^.

Just before I forget, mum bought me a pair of wedges recently. We fall in love after first sight of the two pairs of wedges, so mum bought the blue one and i took the red pair. I wore it during my theory exam and felt very happy! It is very light and comfy, plus the heels have maple leaves pattern~ Mum and I love both colours and since our shoe sizes are the same, we could switch and wear the colour we want everytime. Such a satisfaction from a nice pair of shoes ^^. Anyway, bye for now and good day for everyone!~
