Recent Performance/Events update

Hello!~ Life has been pretty busy for me throughout August! Non-stop events every single week since the return from Hokkaido Trip, which of course leads to heavier schedules on practices, not to mention my day job and studies. This is probably gonna last till my Tokyo trip (yay~), but I think I'm just gonna be busier during September *cough cough*.

 

Anyway, what just happened in the past two weeks.....Ah right, Nijikai 2015 and VAX (Visual Arts Expo). Was invited as a guest performer at Nijikai 2015, and also the judge for the singing competition. Congratulations to the winner! and Thanks to all the contestants, you all did a great job ^___^.

Was trying to create a happy, casual look! As some of you may know, I rarely put on sneakers, so yup that pair was my newly bought New Balance, and I love it so much, didn't really wanna wear them out too often so I won't have to get it dirty.

 

Some of the selfies from Nijikai, didn't take much photos, but I did enjoy the event with the company of Sacchin and Erin.

 

 

Gotten some AWESOME loots from Nijikai too! I'm particularly amazed with the Free!! Nail art, although Rei wasn't my favourite character (I don't think I have any favourites from Free!! but I do prefer Rin lol). The booth only brought in Rei and I haven't seen it during my trip to Japan so better just buy it. And it's only RM10!!

 

 

I really love my Jiji (Mikazuki Munechika) poscard, the art is awesome. I'm currently finding a postcard booklet (I don't know if thats what you call it), so please comment or pm me if you know where I can find them. Other stuffs I bought are like, keychains etc, The Gudetama was from hokkaido lol.

 

Last week I was invited to join as a speaker by Johan for the Club la Uta ACG Singers Panel. That was my first time speaking in a panel (as opposed to all the solo speech public speaking I did), and to be honest it felt really nice and fun speaking and sharing a topic with friends with similar interest, goals and feeling.

 

The audience were good, attentive and did ask us questions so it felt really good as well. Hope that the topics we shared were helpful! We talked about our best stage experience, difficulties and challenges, the rewards and perks, and also tips to aspiring performers. For some reasons I have problem setting the brightness and contrast for the picture so just bear with me. Anyway I'm wearing my suspender skirt from Liz Lisa, really love the suspender strap details on the shoulders, feels like i'm wearing some sort of wings. I'm also using my new bag from Samantha Thavasa which I got from Hokkaido, should be Summer 2015 collection. It's a straw bag with a stripe of denim in the middle.

Another one with my sis, she's wearing her dress from Yumetenbou Japan, and sneakers from Cath Kidston.

MMU Japan Cultural Night

8th January 2015

 

I'm happy to be invited to perform for Japanese Cultural Night, MMU (Multimedia University). Was invited to perform last year as well, but was having some schedule issues so I ended up not going. Am glad that this year everything is going well!

 

Anyway I went performing straight after work. Feeling kinda worried because I drove all the way to cyberjaya alone and we all know how awesome is my driving *cough*.

 

Met with the crews, the people there were soooo nice and caring >< Feeling all the love from the management. Met up with Miranda whom I've not seen for almost a year, she's so cute as usual. And her voice is just amazing. Wish I could sing with her one day!

This was a really small event, with not much audience (probably due to the heavy rain). But I'm happy to spend time with Miranda, the Harmonia members and also the crews!! Most importantly it helps me get my mind off work for few hours. It was during my quarter closing actually, sneaked out just to perform.

C2AGE RAVE 2014

Day 2: 11th May 2014

To be honest I can't remember much about C2AGE this year lol, probably coz I didn't walk around the event. I was spending most of my time practicing with Kaoru and other Harmonia ACG members at some empty area. I have heard a lot about C2age recently (for last year and this), especially about the stage management which I don't wanna speak of them here (feel free to message me if you guys wanna know more in detail lol).

 

I've had a pretty bad experience for my solo performance this time, and FORTUNATELY our duet performance was quite a success so I felt better and trying to forget about what happenned during my solo.

 

Kaoru and I (and Alissa) reached quite early in the morning because we were told that the sound check will start at 8am. BUT! The soundman only reach around 9.15am WTH, and worse the reason he gave us was kinda hard to accept -- having breakfast. We were slightly pissed off because we haven't even had our breakfast yet, and we reached on time because we are responsible people and would never want to cause trouble to the organisers. But obviously the other party doesn't have the same mindset with us.

So some insights on the problems we faced as a performer during the event. Besides the late arrival of the soundman (who don't even feel sorry for being late), their sound engineering and arrangements was a total mess! Okay let me list them down:

 

1. There's no monitor speakers (as usual), and the only speakers available were facing outwards, way in front of the stage blasting outside. So obviously those around the stage and ON the stage could hear a thing. We politely asked to push the speakers behind, and were rejected because they said the vendors complained about the speakers being too loud. I know. It's confusing. Why would you push forward your speakers towards the vendors if they are complaining about the volume being too loud? Won't it be better to push behind so that people around the stage could hear better, and the vendors won't get blasted? I don't know. Ask them.

 

2. The sound engineers keep adjusting all the settings DURING our performances. Our performances thus sounded instable due to all the adjusting. And so I don't know what's the point of having soundchecks.

 

3. The sound engineers told us "We can't guarantee that you guys will be able to hear ANYTHING on stage, so if you guys can't hear, just sing". Apparently they think of us as some genius so perhaps we should  be feeling proud about it.

 

One sad part is that I had to stop my solo performance half way simply because I couldn't hear a single thing. Not the music, not my voice. Luckily the audience seems to understand our difficulties and still supported us nevertheless. Thank you very much.

 

I'm really glad that after all complains and persistency in asking them to push the speakers backwards, they FINALLY did it reluctantly. Therefore we had quite a success in our duet performance! I enjoyed singing "For the first time in Forever" with Kaoru so much, one of the most joyful songs I've ever performed~

This duet performance was one of our best! And our first attempt on Disney songs. Wish we could perform more of these songs real soon~ We worked really hard for this performance, practicing every morning before I start work (Kaoru was working night shift so we practice after she finishes her work and before I start work). I'm really glad that at least our hard work paid off, if we had those speaker issues again I would probably rage.

 

I'll end the post with a video of one of our duet performance on that day. This is the one where we performed "For the first time in forever" from Disney Frozen. I did not upload all performances from C2AGE this time hahaha, and even for AMG this year there's no recording LOL. Actually not just that, I realised most of my performance this year were without recordings hahaha, wonder what happened to me.

 

Jojo Himemiya's Birthday Party

12th July 2014

Was invited to Jojo's birthday party at PJ Live Arts, Jaya One, thanks a lot for the invitation! It was a costume party so the dress code for the day is obviously costumes, or formal clothing for those who prefer to dress up more subtlely haha.

 

To be honest, I wasn't thinking much about what to wear for the party hahahaha. Then the night before the idea of wearing my Edo Hakama traditional clothes pops up suddenly. So yeah, just like that I wore that to the party~

My full body OOTD~ I've worn the top with a fluffy short skirt before but never the complete piece. Mainly because I was fat last time and the full suit just doesn't look nice on me. Somehow after 2 yrs I'm quite satisfy with this outfit haha.

 

The party was fun by the way; met old friends (Harmonia ACG gang, shaun etc) and also made many new friends ^^. I reached there rather early and helped out with the arrangements for the snacks table. The party was during puasa month so the snacks corner were hidden by curtains.

 

My performance was right after the Otaku quiz game, and I sang a song from Pokemon - Kimi no soba de. I chose the song because I wanna convey the message to Jojo that no matter what happens there'll always be someone by her side and cheer her up~ Although quite funny to perform a pokemon song wearing hakama hahaha.

There were three games during the party: otaku quiz (before my performance), charade (this was sooo fun hahaha, my team got the second place!), and best dressed competition. I really like how we all feast together during buka puasa (we had domino pizza~), it was really fun hanging out with Kaoru and gang hehe.

Okay. I don't know what was I staring and smiling at lolol. But I really do love the photos though! Somehow my sis is the best person who knows my facial features, style and look the best. She would always take pictures that suits my preference hehe. I really miss playing my hanafuda deck, it's soooo hard to find partner to play with, so I always practice my skills through online hanafuda games, and I have to say I'm pretty good at it hehe.

Red Box Sing with Class, Sunway Pyramid

17th August 2014

Went for this RedBox singing competition around 2 weeks ago. I first heard about this from Johan in our J-singing gang group chat, and was feeling rather half-hearted about joining. But in the end I was half-dragged into signing up because Kaoru, Zie Aun and Johan pulled me to register right after AMG event. Can't say that I'm not free to register haha since I was also waiting for Animenz piano concert with them.

 

Too bad the Sunway branch only have 3 positions left, Kaoru had to join the Bukit Tinggi's batch while Zie and Johan participated twice (one with me at Sunway, another at Bukit Tinggi). I didn't really prepare for this competition and I was having flu on the competition day hahaha. Nose block! Anyway, we were asked to reach 45minutes before the competition starts (7pm) for sound check.

 

One of the highlights of this competition (the main reason I joined) is that we will be using the Shure Vintage mic to compete! It is kind of a rare chance to use a vintage mic (unless I buy one myself lol) to perform so I was pretty excited about it! The champion will get to win themselves a vintage mic + RM500 cash voucher (if i'm not mistaken), but I doubt I'll win la, thats why I'm only excited to try out the mic haha.

The prizes. Everyone who participated will get a consolation prize of RM50 RedBox Cash voucher.

Most of us were still not used to the mic, since we only get around 1-2mins to test it out. I was pretty amazed by the standards of the contestants though! All of them sang really well and I enjoyed the 2.5hours of music ^^.

The judges. I'm feeling a little bad for not remembeing any of their names lol.

 

I participated with Wonderland by FLiP, a song I've performed for several times with my band. Slightly regretted picking that song because it's really hard to do a great performance with no heated audience (and three pair of eyes -- the judges staring). This song is better suited for band performance and people having fun together haha.

 

Nonetheless I still enjoyed a lot singing with the vintage microphone! It has good resonance and the effect is amazing. I would probably consider to get one after getting a good dynamic microphone for my stage performances.

 

After all contestants sang, we were given a 10-15minutes break for the judge to make their final decision on the winner. We used the time to chat around and getting to know new friends who love music!

A big congratulations to Johan for winning the First Runner-up ^^ He got RM200 cash voucher so I guess he's gonna spend them by going to redbox a lot lol. I'm more of a LoudSpeaker fan recently, their prices are much cheaper, with SUPER COOL song selections, and even their food taste good!! Sorry to say but RedBox food kinda sucks.

To everyone who joined and participated, gokurousamadeshita! I'm sure we all tried our best and you guys are awesome as usual! Hope to join more of these competitions to further improve myself, broaden up my network and to spend time with friends who love music ^^.

 

2014 ACG Fiesta, UTAR Sg Long

(Although typed this right after the day lol)

I just had a short mini 2 piece acoustic performance with Joee (The CrestFall's keyboardist) at ACG Fiesta 2014, UTAR Sungai Long. Here's the page if you guys wanna know more about the event: ACG Fiesta.

We broke the record of shortest practice time before performance LOL, but it wasn't as scary as the time where our full band only met up for the FIRST (means we haven't even see each other before) time TWO days before the band performance, that was seriously nerve wrecking. This time we only met up twice for practice; first one was the Monday before the performance where both of us weren't really prepared ahem, and the 2nd practice was few hours before the performance =__=. I was feeling uneasy and all, but we were all in 'nankurunaisa~" (whatever will be will be) mode.

I have to say though, this is a really small event (with very few booths and a small hall), but the committees were really helpful and friendly (example we were given a room to rest and practice)~ The audience were very supportive by singing along with us~ and were very attentive and cheered for us even though there's some who have never heard the songs before ^^. So both of us had quite a fun time performing and spending time together.

This year's performance was a whole lot better than last year's, in terms of the PA and sound equipments etc; but somehow our performance was full of echos in the hall which I don't really know why. And as usual we can't really hear ourselves on stage (there's no monitor), but I'm starting to get used to this (am being quite pro performing in worse situations). Performance wise I think we did quite well!~ I did some lyrics mistakes here and there but I don't think anyone would realize during the live performance ^^.

I'm looking forward for more performances with my band, really miss spending time with them. Kinda regret not buying stuff from the booths haiz, I was too tired to look around.

Spring 2014 Lookback~

I've had a rather good Spring this year! In terms of food, shopping and some performances though, since my schedule is pretty hectic with work and studies etc (I don't even wanna think about it). I'm still trying to find more time to try out some new stuffs, so will be working hard to find the equilibrium between work/studies and fun.

Pastel pink + lavendar Alpacca pouch. I supposed this was my first purchase this Spring. Was having this hidden goal to grab all the pastel colored stuff lol, so you guys could probably see tons of pastel coloured stuffs in this post.

One of my favourite shopping! Pale pastel pink skinny jeans from Mango. Walked through and forth Bershka and Mango to decide which pink skinny jeans to take. Ended up with this because the pink looks better and Mango always look better on me haha. Lavendar shorts and mint green HP cover from Bershka.

Really x100 LOVE my new HP cover! I match it up with a really pretty pearl + ribbon ear plug ^^. My phone looks really Hime (princess) now.

Happy Escape game with game buddies!!! This was at Escape Dungeong, SS15. There's the 'Menu', 'Spider treasure', Adam's Manikin which he had so much fun stripping LOL, chinamade gold etc (all the internal jokes), feel like laughing out loud while typing this hahhaa. I wish we could meet up more often for more games ><. Never ending laughters and fun with you guys~

Most recent game few weeks ago at Escape Room, Setiawalk. Love the time we spent together (as usual) but the game ending is seriously swt, impossible to solve. Am glad I stayed for the Karaoke session! I must have lost few kgs just by laughing alone, hahaha. You guys really made my day (or days) during my hard times, so thanks a lot!

It wasn't supposed to be like this, either the cut or color, trust me. It's much shorter than I wanted, but it's fine since can't turn back time lol. Had to go with a darker color due to time constraint and it's gonna fade anyway so dark pink brown wasn't so bad either.

Luckily mum and sis did a great job buying all these!! Am already planning for next year's sale so who cares if i have class, will definitely go next time!

Went to Port Dickson for several hours to attend (perform) for my company's annual dinner.
Didn't like the beach >< As what the people have always tell me, the beach is small and there's nothing really special about it.

But I think I did a great job taking these nice pictures though! :D

Had a Two-Days Lunch programme with Eunee!!! Am so happy we get to see each other for two consequtive days, it doesn't happen always lo... Had lunch at Subway + Dessert at Madeleine Cafe. I love my Hazelnut Latte so much! The Caramel Cheese Cake was average though..

Ok la. I have to admit it wasn't extremely great or something. It was just above average. I ordered this Maria Parloa - Diced mushroom, homemade hash potatoes, smoked cured salmon and free-range poached egg with Hollandaise. I find it good as it has all the ingredients I love. But it tasted normal, like I could predict how it will taste like since the beginning, nothing special. But i'm still happy to have visited this place though!

After lunch we had desserts at Coffeea Coffee ^^. Had this Chai Latte and Cherry cheese cake. The cheese cake was slightly better than the one in Madeleine, but the latte sucks.

Let's meet up to do more interesting stuff after my exams!!! I can't wait for Plate culture experience hehe~

My lunch few days ago with Nicole (one of my different team colleagues) at L-Table. I regret not knowing this place earlier!!! They have super good brunches :D ~~

 

 

Nicole's order (looked super delicious right??): Croque Madame - Layered chicken ham and grilled cheese in thick sandwich bread, baked with bechamel with an egg on top. I had a try and it tasted great! 

 

My order!! Salmon Eggs Benedict, lol no need to explain. The food here is better than the ones at Garage 51. Must try out more of their stuffs in the later days~

I'll end this lengthy post with my Skin Care preparation for Summer~~~ Trying out the super famous Cure Aqua Gel and B-liv products, wouldn't have gotten it without Sasa Summer Sales, really worth it with all the free samples ^^.
