Tong Pak Fu (糖百府) Desserts

Though I do admit I don't have a sweet tooth, but it's still fun to go for desserts with my family for tea (or sometimes we would replace meal times for dessert if we want to have something light). My family loves going to Tong Pak Fu ever since our first visit, mainly because there's a branch near where we stay, and also the choice of food available there (not justthe  usual hot desserts, but snow ice, western desserts and even some finger food as well).

The interior has the striking combination of orange x white, which gives the youthful feeling; I guess maybe it feels young to have desserts, I don't know lol.

 

I'll start with some hot desserts which have always been the hot pick for my mum and sis, not for me though as I prefer something "lighter" for the buds.

 

Almond Cream (RM5.80). I took this because my mum complained about me having too much cold drinks (bad for my health etc etc). Thought I could finish this because I love almond, but I had to force myself to gulp down in order not to waste it. Not to say that it's bad, it's very smooth and rich, very good for almond lovers; Just that I'm not used to having thick hot desserts, will feel "jelak" very fast.

 



Black Glutinous Rice Cream with Coconut Milk (RM5.80). This is the usual order for my mum and sis, I do sometimes take this as well. Don't know why, but I can somehow take this without feeling heavy, good when I'm feeling for some hot desserts~

 



 

 Black Sesame Cream (RM5.80). Haha, this. I have a serious dislike towards black sesame, just can't take the smell and the taste, BUT my whole family loves it =__=. They love red bean as well, which I don't understand why; but lately I can somehow accept grean beans, some sort of improvement i guess..

Apple Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream (forgotten the price). I've ordered this at least twice, loving the apple tart a lot! Although I sometimes don't get why most western desserts here have that vanilla ice cream there even though it doesn't really match.

 



 

Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream (RM12.80). This is one of their signature western dessert, and each order have to wait up to 15minutes (if i'm not mistaken) for preparation. Love the part where I take a bite of the lava cake together with the ice cream, that hot + cold feeling is great~ The outer part of the lava cake is rather crispy, and the inner part is soft with melted chocolate. Although I would recommend sharing if you can't take too much sweet at a time, or easily get overwhelmed with sweetness.

 



Chicken Cutlet (RM9.80). This one taste great for snacks (when your tongue gets so bored with all the sweets, and sweets and sweets), however I would prefer it to be boneless, like the ones in chatime or taiwan street food stalls.

 



 

Tempura (RM8.80). I do not really recommend this because I do not understand the taste lol. It's somewhat soft and doesn't have much flavor. 

 

 

Curry Chee Cheong Fun (Forgotten the price). The curry is good, medium spicyness, with sprinkles of dried prawn and fried onions; good for sharing ^^.

I did not take any pictures for the Snow Ice, but would definitely recommend that, especially the Green Tea flavored one. There's also durian flavor so you should definitely try some if you are a durian lover.

Would definitely keep visiting them for desserts~ Heard that they have some new menu so I'm looking forward to try them out too ^^

Yamagoya Ramen (山小屋) @ SetiaWalk, Puchong

The trend of going to SetiaWalk for food has been going on with my family for months; and of course I wouldn't let go the chance of half-forcing my family to try the new ramen restaurant when I found out that Yamagoya Ramen which proclaimed to have over 150 outlets across Japan is just few minutes drive away from my house.

Visited this restaurant twice but we ordered almost the same thing so the same set of pictures.

 Dining mat (paper lol) that explains the making of ramen pork broth and noodles in Japanese. I ordered Mukashi Special Ramen (RM24) in both my visits, as I think it's of the best value - consists of handmade ramen, with Japanese style Chashu (Sliced Pork), egg, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, nori and some spring onions, all in one bowl!

 

Don't know why but I don't really like the pictures taken here, just think I could do better, but whatever. I think the ramen is slightly above average, with the soup being quite salty for me, yes I do prefer stronger broth taste but not the salt. Chashu was good though, smooth with a good amount of fats. I particularly like the onsen tamago, shared it with my sis because hers is without egg.

My sis targetted this ever since she saw reviews on the net, she loves broth with strong garlic taste; but to her opinion the garlic flavor wasn't fragrant enough, so she was slightly dissapointed.

 

 There's some side dish available as well; and we picked the gyoza to try out. It turns out quite well, i love the half crispy gyoza skin and the fillings match well with vinegar.

I finally get to try Calpis since Yamagoya serves them. Took the soda one, but i heard the original one is better, so kinda regretted it. It's still special nevertheless.

Probably not going back Yamagoya anytime soon though, maybe sometime when the urge is back. Gonna be more hardworking to blog all the backdated food post, stay tuned ~

New Year Resolutions 2013

Whoa..I can't believe this is my first post for 2013, hahaha..To give myself some excuse, I was pretty much very occupied with exams and performance throughout december; and after being so pressed up I was lazying around(too much) during January. Relaxing while thinking my 2013 resolution! For every new year, I would blog about what I felt for the past year and what I think I should do for the new year~ It will be Chinese New Year real soon (1 day later) and this post is still relevant I guess [and I've gotten my exam results few hours ago so my plan for the year becomes clearer].

 

2013 New Year Resolutions:

1. Start Working

2. Buy myself a car

3. Go for more (more, more and more) photoshoots as possible

4. Start up my music career

5. Blog more (hahaha, I know I get lazy sometimes)

6. Learn up something new, upgrade myself

7. Go to more countries

8. Prepare for my Japan trip

9. Collect enough good pictures to design my personal name card

10. Enjoy life~

Tappers Café @ SetiaWalk Puchong

Recently this place is where our family keep visiting, seriously like up to four times a week!(scary huh, I bet the waiter there already so familliar with us if we don't go it'll be weirder haha).

 

The main reason for our love for Tappers is their WONDERFUL breakfast sets. I'm not a morning kind of person, but I really do love western style breakfast! But you can't really find a great one easily in Malaysia, so that's sad. But now we have Tappers and we are like going every other day so I'm pretty much satisfied! Their sets are pretty cheap too, which include drinks (fresh milk!!).

 

 

 

I kinda hope it was always so empty..due to the good food it has always become rather full.

 

This is my first try on their breakfast set - English Breakfast (sausage, chicken bacon, 2 sunny side up eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes and toast); my drink of the day - Cold fresh milk~ I love this set because of the baked beans and mushrooms, too bad my favourite set doesn't come with them, will talk about it later.

 

My mum's favourite set previously (now she is trying out other menus) - Tappers Breakfast (Romani salad, baked beans, 2 sunny side up eggs, sausage, chicken bacon and foccacia toast); the drink she always take is Long Black coffee.

 

 

This was ordered when my mum and sis were feeling adventurous - Cheese omelette with sausage and toast. And now they kinda order this every now and then (I haven't tried ordering one myself), but the cheese omelette is super cheesy!!cheese flows out when you cut it, yum.

 

Tadaa~~ Here comes my ultimate favourite!! American Breakfast set - Sausage, Chicken bacon, 2 sunny side up eggs, and 2 pancakes. I absolutely ADORE the pancakes!!! It's somehow different from the usual pancakes, this one look more like scones but whatever la they called it, it's really delicious!! But I complain every time I ordered it, reason being I prefer baked beans and mushrooms included! (I'll be really happy even if there's only baked beans). In the end i'll still go back to this because the pancakes are really irresistable.

They have lunch sets too, but what we always order is either Aglio Olio pasta (sorry no picture) or sometimes Carbonara spagetti. Other foods from the menu were meh, I tried their normal menu once and I was kinda dissapointed; so nevermind, will stick to breakfast and the usual pasta!

The menu looks different from what I usually see, maybe they have different menu for different branches, but it's roughly the same ^^

 

So do try their breakfast out if you feel like having a great meal! Breakfast time is up to 11am for weekdays and 2pm for weekends (but sometimes I woke up late they still allow me to have breakfast la).

Cheesy 7 @ Pizza Hut

I missed Cheesy 7 from Pizza Hut before, and now that they are back (since Oct 11, 2012), I'm dying to try them. Am a fan of cheese you know~

But so sad, I'm quite dissapointed after trying it out, excitement died off haha. I guess it's because it didn't really satisfy my cheese cravings? Was quite dissapointed with the cheese balls too, it tasted more like cream balls haha.

 

Anyway, Cheesy 7 pizza claims to have 7 different types of cheese: Mozzarella cheese, Cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, Provolone cheese, Romano cheese, Parmesan cheese & Cream cheese. Sounds super cool but doesn't taste so. I just can't feel the cheesy-ness in the pizza, maybe my problem, I don't know.

I guess I really do prefer Dominos over Pizza Hut, Domino cheese crust is always so cheesy and creamy! Pizza Hut ones are dry and dry and dry (even with the cheese). Look at the pictures also don't realy have the mood to continue type, so bye!~
